Their research work often examines the intersections of our digital selves and our day to day lived experiences as well as focusing on grassroots gaming communities and events. McLaughlin has worked as a consultant for multiple companies in a variety of industries from tech development to finance to educate their staff, in-house research teams and designers on the intricacies and nuances of the gaming space. They are a lifelong lover of gaming and a researcher whose naturalistic, ethnographic approach has kept them on the cutting edge of tech development and helped clients solve unique problems and pursue more authentic interactions with the myriad subcultures that make up the modern gaming landscape.
